Perrone wins Eclipse Honorable Mention for article in Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred
Honorable mention in the Eclipse Awards competition’s writing – features/enterprise category went to Vinnie Perrone for “Life Lived Large – the Tale of Dickie Small,” about the career of Maryland-based trainer Richard W. Small. The piece was published in the February 2009 issue of the MHBA’s award-winning publication, Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred.

Only one other article receive honors in the features/enterprise category – the winner, Joe Drape’s “Despite Outcry, Derby Owners Fall Silent on Drugs for Horses,” which appeared in The New York Times.

Perrone won the Media Eclipse in this category in 2008 for his article in Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred on the life of newspaper handicapper Clem Florio.
